"This
wine has a fabulous complexity of chocolate, coffee, spices, soy and cedar
characters. The nose is smoky and developed and the palate is all vanillin
oak and ripe fruit with plenty of acid.”

“THE
JUDGES WERE UNANIMOUS THAT THIS IS A BEAUTIFULLY RICH AND ELEGANT WINE.
PLEASING LEESY COMPLEXITY TO THE NOSE.
THE PALATE SHOWS SEAMLESS BALANCE, GREAT TEXTURE AND LIVELY ACID
STRUCTURE.”

Jeremy Oliver, Australian Gourmet
Traveller - WINE
TOP 5 SEMILLONS
"The
thing about classic Hunter Semillon is that it can be fine and delicate, yet
still mature for a decade or more in the bottle. The clear herbal and melon
aromas of this typical example are so subtle as to be almost neutral, but its
palate is long and supple, brightly flavoured with lively citrus fruits and
punctuated by chalky, lemony acids. From a season of rare warmth and sunshine,
it will develop beautifully for at least another six years or so."
NEW RELEASE CABERNET SAUVIGNON
The 2002 Allandale Hilltops Cabernet
Sauvignon has just been released. This
is one of the latest and most exciting releases for the Allandale Winery. This
deep purple Cabernet exhibits notes of coffee and dark cherries on the nose with
a full palate and fine tannins. The
previous release the 2000 Allandale Hilltops Cabernet Sauvignon was chosen
in this prestigious "Top 40 Wines" at the NSW
Wine Awards.

Allandale
2000 Matthew Shiraz
Awarded
91 out of 100 by James Halliday
"Long
established as the stalwart in the Allandale range, with a consistent style
developed over the years. Part of the primary fermentation is completed in new
American oak, and the wine is matured in American oak, drawing (no doubt) on the
example of Grange Hermitage and, closer to home, Brokenwood Graveyard Shiraz.
The oak always makes a major contribution to the flavour of the wine, and will
appeal greatly to those who enjoy the sweet vanilla flavours which result."
- James Halliday, Jan. 29 2002
