VINEYARDS
Three classic varieties are grown on the 17 acres of Allandale's multi award winning
vineyards. Semillon and Chardonnay comes from our well drained 'Creek Flat' Vineyards
and was planted in 1982. The soil profile here is sandy aggregate loam topsoil over
medium clay which results in ideal soil conditions for these varieties. Pinot Noir
was planted further up the hill towards the winery on a similar soil profile and
was also planted at this time.
Allandale also prides itself on supporting long-standing relationships with local
growers of high quality fruit from the Upper and Lower Hunter Valley. Varieties
include Verdelho, Sauvignon Blanc and Shiraz. Additional Semillon and Chardonnay
vineyards are also sourced to complement Allandale's own, low yielding vines.
Allandale sources small parcels of high quality fruit from other regions around
Australia to provide diversity and choice for the customer allowing Allandale to
source fruit from regions better suited to those varieties. Regions include Orange,
NSW (cooler climate) for Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc; Mudgee, NSW for Shiraz
and Sangiovese; Hilltops, NSW for Cabernet Sauvignon and McLaren Vale, SA for fuller
bodied Shiraz.
